Season of Hell's Legacy gives Barbarian players a quick route from the opening quests to level 70, and it does not ask for a perfect stash to get rolling. A Whirlwind setup works on basic rare drops, which is a relief when you are still sorting through early D4 items and trying to keep the pace up. The main idea is simple: stay moving, keep Fury coming in, and let Whirlwind clear the screen while Dust Devils finish what is left behind.
Start With Movement and Fury
Put Lunging Strike on your bar as the backup button you hit when Fury starts running dry. Take the upgrades that reward you for passing through enemies and give you Berserking from critical hits. The Dust Devil option is worth taking too, since it adds extra damage without slowing you down. Then build straight into Whirlwind. Grab the movement-speed upgrade first, because faster spins mean faster dungeon runs. Once your Fury income feels comfortable, swap toward the option that raises cost and damage. Add the channeling bonus and the Dust Devil upgrade, and regular packs will usually disappear while you are already heading for the next room.
Shouts Keep the Run Together
Rallying Cry is the skill that makes the build feel smooth instead of stop-and-start. Use its resource and speed upgrades, then take the version that restores resources as you travel. War Cry comes out for elites, events, and bosses. Its attack-speed, Berserking, and Vulnerable effects give Whirlwind a much stronger push when a target refuses to fall over. Challenging Shout is there for rough moments. Take damage reduction, longer uptime, and Fury gained when you take hits. You will notice the difference in crowded rooms where ranged enemies and heavy melee foes pile on at once.
Quick Priority Check
| Slot or Choice | Best Early Focus | | Two-Handed Mace | Weapon damage, Strength, Physical Damage | | Helm and Armor | Maximum Life, resistances, cooldown reduction | | Gloves and Jewelry | Critical Strike Chance, Attack Speed, critical damage | | Boots | Movement Speed, Armor, Fury recovery | | Mercenary | Raheir with Ground Slam, Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration | Use a Two-Handed Mace as your main weapon and select its Expertise for the direct damage benefit. Polearm Expertise is a solid Technique choice. Raheir also fits this playstyle well because he can hold enemies in place and soften incoming pressure while you keep spinning. For seasonal powers, the Splinter of Terror and Flames of Metus pair nicely with constant movement and frequent hits, especially in familiar areas such as the Den of Evil.
Keep Spinning When the Pressure Rises
Open with Rallying Cry, start Whirlwind, and use Lunging Strike only when you need a fast Fury refill. Save War Cry for tougher targets, then add Challenging Shout when the incoming damage starts to stack up. Wrath of the Berserker is your answer for bosses and stubborn elite groups; take its attack-speed and Fury upgrades first, then extend its uptime through Fury spending. As your gear improves, D4 items cheap can help fill a weak slot, but the build's real strength is that it already feels good before rare gear turns into anything special.
