Rolling a batch of Ventor's Gamble Gold Rings in Path of Exile 2 feels less like crafting and more like scratching cheap lottery tickets at your desk. You know most of them won't pay out. Still, when you've got 72 unidentified rings sitting there and a few spare scrolls beside your POE 2 Currency, it's hard not to click through them and hope for something daft, rare, or weirdly useful.
Why Players Keep Chasing This Ring
Ventor's Gamble has always had that odd charm because it can roll both ways. Good rings can stack strong elemental resistance and item rarity. Bad ones can punish you so hard they look like a joke item made on purpose. That's the hook. A normal unique is judged by how close it gets to a known best version. Ventor's is different. You're looking for extremes, and sometimes the awful rolls are just as memorable as the good ones.
The 72 Ring Test
The session started with a simple plan: identify every ring first, judge the results after, and don't get clever too early. No fancy setup. No big crafting theory. Just Scrolls of Wisdom and a pile of Gold Rings. As expected, the first stretch was rough. Several rings came out with double or triple negative resistances, and a few had item rarity penalties on top. You see enough of those and you start wondering if the game has a personal grudge against you.
The Rolls That Stood Out
Not everything was trash, though. A few rings landed in that awkward middle ground where one or two stats looked promising, then the last roll ruined the mood. One had solid lightning and cold resistance, but fire resistance barely moved. Another had positive rolls across the board, which sounds great until you compare the numbers and realise they're just not high enough to matter. The best comedy roll was the opposite: heavy negative resistances, close to the bottom end, with negative rarity as well. It wasn't useful, but it had personality. People keep those because they're funny, and honestly, that counts for something.
Corrupting the Leftovers
After the basic identifying was done, a few rings went into the Vaal Orb pile. That's where the gamble gets a bit nastier. Corruption can add something interesting, change the item, or do almost nothing at all. It can also make a ring harder to sell if the result doesn't help. In this run, the corrupted outcomes didn't create a monster item, but one ring became decent enough to keep around. Not a jackpot. More like finding a ten-dollar note in an old jacket.
Final Thoughts
Out of 72 Ventor's Gamble rings, the haul was about what most players would expect: lots of junk, a few near misses, and a couple of pieces worth saving for laughs or niche use. That's the real appeal of this item. It doesn't promise steady profit. It gives you a reason to hope for one absurd reveal. If you're planning a similar session, set a budget, don't chase losses, and treat resources like cheap POE 2 Divine Orbs as part of the entertainment cost rather than a guaranteed investment.
