Flashpoint pushed a lot of players back into the grind, and the Dolabra is a big reason why. This shotgun has quickly become one of those weapons people talk about after a good run, mostly because it hits hard and feels different from the usual kit. If you're hoping to grab it, forget normal scavenging routes and standard loot chests. The schematic is tied to the Close Scrutiny condition, so your hunt really starts when you spot that huge red beam and head in with a plan, decent gear, and maybe a stash of ARC Raiders Items already sorted for the run. Going solo sounds brave until the Assessor area turns into a scrap heap and you're the one getting boxed in.
The dropship itself is only part of the problem. The real slowdown comes from the enemies around it. Vaporizers are nasty enough on their own, and Surveyors make the whole fight more annoying than it needs to be. You clear one wave, then another shows up, and by then your ammo and healing are already looking rough. After that, you still need to crack open the sealed chambers inside the ship. That's where the blueprint can appear, but it's not guaranteed at all. It shares space with other rare ARC loot, so you can do everything right and still walk away empty-handed. A lot of players hit that wall. You start thinking the next run has to be the one, then five runs later you're still chasing it.
Even with the low drop chance, the Dolabra is worth the trouble. Once you extract with the schematic, it stays unlocked at the Gunsmith as long as your progression is high enough. That part matters, because this isn't just another shotgun with a fancy name. Hip-fire gives you a broad electric burst that wrecks anything too close to breathe. Aim down sights, though, and the weapon tightens up into a more focused shot that can deal with tougher targets at a safer range. You notice the difference straight away. It's one of the few guns that actually changes how you take fights instead of just boosting damage numbers.
Getting the blueprint is step one. Building the thing is where some players stall out. The recipe asks for several higher-tier parts, and none of them are the sort of materials you casually pile up without trying. Shredder Gyros and Magnetic Accelerators can be a pain, but Vaporizer Regulators are usually the real blocker. Those parts don't drop often enough to feel comfortable, and because they're tied to specific enemies from the Flashpoint update, you end up planning farming routes around them. It's not glamorous. It's repeated runs, awkward extracts, and the usual moment where someone in your squad says, "One more match," even though everyone's already tired.
Once you finally craft the Dolabra, the hours start to make sense. It's strong in close quarters, flexible when you need a tighter shot, and reliable against some of the more irritating ARC units that usually chew through weaker loadouts. More than that, it feels earned, which is probably why so many players stick with the grind instead of giving up halfway through. If you're setting out to farm the schematic and the materials after that, treat the whole thing like a long-term goal, keep your extractions clean, and make room in your planning for the ARC Raiders BluePrint chase before you ever expect the weapon to land in your hands.
