In GTA Online, a quiet drive can turn messy in seconds when a stranger slips into your car and heads off without you. That is why it pays to sort your vehicle permissions before parking outside a shop, mission marker, or meet. Whether you have spent ages tuning a favourite ride or picked up one of the GTA 5 Accounts options for a fresh start, keeping control of the driver's seat makes every session less annoying. The key setting is Vehicle Access. Set it once, and you will not have to argue with random players through the horn.
Open the right menu first
Start with the Interaction Menu. PC players can tap M. On PlayStation, hold the Touchpad; on Xbox, hold the View button. Do it while standing near your active personal vehicle, then scroll to Manage Vehicles. It is easy to pass it at first because the menu has plenty going on, but this is where the useful car controls live. From there, open Vehicle Preferences. Think of it as the quick control panel for who gets in, what doors move, and how your car behaves when other players are around.
Choose who gets a seat
Vehicle Access is the setting most players will want to check straight away. Here is a simple comparison: No-one keeps every seat for you; Passengers lets others ride without taking the wheel; Friends limits entry to people on your friends list; Crew does the same for crew members; Crew and Friends combines both groups. For everyday free roam, Passengers is often the sweet spot. Your mates can jump in, enjoy the ride, and help during a job, but they are not taking off in your car while you are grabbing snacks or checking the map.
Get unwanted riders out
Sometimes you notice the problem a little late. Maybe someone is already sitting in the front seat, waiting for you to drive, or trying to claim the car as their own. Do not waste time circling the vehicle. Go back to Vehicle Preferences and use Empty Personal Vehicle. That removes other players from your ride right away. A handy order to remember is: 1) open the Interaction Menu, 2) choose Manage Vehicles, 3) enter Vehicle Preferences, 4) pick Empty Personal Vehicle if somebody is inside, 5) reset Vehicle Access to the option you want.
Use the doors for more than security
Vehicle Preferences also includes Vehicle Doors, which is great for small social moments in Los Santos. You can open every door, pop the hood, lift the trunk, or select one door at a time. It is useful when a friend is trying to find the right side of a crowded car, and it looks good at a meet when you want to show the engine. With GTA 5 Accounts buy choices and a solid access setup, your personal vehicles stay yours while your crew still has room to ride along.
